Camp

Camp

I started at Tawingo when I was 13, and loved it from the first day.  After my glorious time as a camper ended I worked there for 7 summers, and even one fall (our Outdoor Centre hosts school groups). Camp is where I developed the leadership and teamwork skills that are so important in medicine - and I also met some of my best friends there. Tawingo still plays a big part in my life, I visit often and have spent several New Years in the glorious Muskoka snow.

Staying

Staying Active

My dad taught me to skate when I was 4, and ski when I was 9.  Sports always played a big role in our family, as dad coached us in hockey and baseball, and even spent 3 years as the local hockey association president. High school was when I started running and cross-country skiing, and I try to spend as much time outside as I can, even in the winter.

Travelling

Travelling

I've had a passion for traveling since the age of 4, when Dad and I drove 1,000 miles in our gold RX-7 to visit family in Halifax (Mom flew with my new infant brother). We detoured through New England to enjoy the slide rides and stop at L.L. Bean. I've been lucky enough to visit Europe a few times, and South Africa twice. During medical school rotations in 10 different cities, I travelled over 40,000 kilometres. I've also driven from Ottawa to BC twice.
